| Note: |
The chromosomal translocation t(11;18) or api2-mlt1 gene rearrangement is present in 40-50% of patients with MALT-type lymphomas of the stomach. Since most api2-mlt1 breakpoints cluster at a common breakpoint, this RT-PCR assay is capable of detecting most of api2-mlt1 gene rearrangements. However, some breakpoints occur at other loci and will not be identified by this particular test.
