Wildcards Symbol (*)

The wildcard symbol (*) can be used in place of letters or characters in query words to search for different permutations of a word.

Boolean Parameters

Search terms can be a single word or several words. The search engine automatically inserts and between words if nothing else is specified, so the Boolean term and can be omitted in search terms. For example, searching for tissue assay is the same as searching for tissue AND assay.

Quotes can be used to search for phrases. For example:

Methodology:	Quantitative Chemiluminescent Immunoassay/Quantitative High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

Reported:	Next day for Vitamin B12; 4-6 days if MMA is performed
Specimen Required:	Collect: Plain red or serum separator tube. Specimen Preparation: Protect from light during collection, storage and shipment. Centrifuge and remove serum from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 2 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube and refrigerate or freeze immediately. (Min: 1.5 mL) Storage/Transport Temperature: Frozen. Unacceptable Conditions: Plasma. Room temperature specimens. Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic specimens. Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 48 hours; Frozen: 1 month
