T-Cell Clonality Screening Assay by PCR, Tissue : 0055568

Mnemonic: T CELL-T

Methodology: Polymerase Chain Reaction/Fragment Analysis
Performed: DNA isolation: Sun-Sat; Assay: Varies
Reported: 7-10 days
Specimen Required: Collect:  Fresh tissue. Freeze immediately.

Transport:  100 mg or 0.5-2.0 cm3 tissue, frozen on dry ice.

Stability:  Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 2 hours; Frozen: 1 year
Reference Interval:
Negative: A monoclonal T-cell population is not detected.
Positive: A monoclonal T-cell population is detected.
Interpretive Data: By report

Please refer to Statement B in the Compliance Statements section in the front of the Laboratory Test Directory.
Note: A positive result indicates the presence of monoclonal T-cell population within the sample.  A negative result does not entirely exclude the presence of a T-cell receptor gamma gene rearrangement (or monoclonal T-cell population) in the sample.  Negative PCR screening studies should be terminally analyzed by restriction fragment Southern blot hybridization (RF-SBH) to definitively exclude T-cell monoclonality.  This is not automatically performed unless otherwise stipulated and can be performed using fresh or frozen tissue.

For confirmation testing refer to T-Cell Clonality Assessment by Restriction Fragment Southern Blot Hybridization, Tissue (0055594).
CPT Code(s): 83907 Lysis; 83891 Isolation; 83898 x6 Amplification; 83896 x3 Nucleic Acid Probes; 83909 Capillary electrophoresis; 83912 Interpretation and report - Additional CPT code modifiers may be required for procedures performed to test for oncologic or inherited disorders.
