Interpretive Data: Serum from healthy individuals and patients with mucocutaneous candidiasis generally does not have positive immunodiffusion tests. Approximately 88% of immunologically competent patients with visceral candidiasis will demonstrate one or more precipitin bands. Two to nine bands have been associated with serum from patients with systemic infections. Generally, the greater the number of bands, the more severe the infection (except with immunocompromised patients).
