Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 4 mL plain red. 

Transport: 0.5 mL serum, frozen.  (Min: 0.4 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.4 mL serum, frozen.

Remarks: Separate serum from cells ASAP.  Do not use gel barrier.

Unacceptable Conditions: Hemolyzed, contaminated, and heat-inactivated specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 2 days; Frozen: 6 months

This assay provides a single qualitative (positive/negative) result only.  It does not provide information on the amount of IgE specific for any of the component allergens (Dermatophagoides farinae, Cat epithelium and dander, Dog dander, Bermuda grass, Kentucky bluegrass, Alternaria alternata, Oak tree, Elm tree, Common ragweed, Russian thistle).
