Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube.

Specimen Preparation: Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, or lipemic specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

Reference Interval:
0.0-20.0 U: Negative
20.1-24.9 U: Equivocal
Greater than or equal to 25.0 U: Positive
Interpretive Data: A positive result indicates the presence of IgG antibodies to recombinant human P450 2D6 and suggests the possibility of autoimmune hepatitis, type 2.  A negative LKM-1 does not rule out the presence of autoimmune hepatitis, type 2.
