Interpretive Data:

Please refer to Statement A in the Compliance Statements section in the front of the Laboratory Test Directory.
Note: Precipitating antibodies against the offending antigen can be demonstrated in most active cases of hypersensitivity pneumonitis.  However, a positive test does not always indicate active disease since asymptomatic individuals may develop precipitins without any features of hypersensitivity. A positive test is a helpful diagnostic tool when supported by historical and clinical evidence. The absence of a positive test does not rule out hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
