Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 4 mL SST.

Transport: 1 mL serum, frozen. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.2 mL serum, frozen

Remarks: Allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes to one hour at 2-8°C. Separate serum from cells ASAP and place immediately on refrigerant pack (2-8°C) or freeze.

Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Ambient specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable, Refrigerated: 2 days, Frozen: 1 year
