Additional Technical Information

Mnemonic: TTG DGP

Ordering Recommendation: Acceptable single screening test for celiac disease. More expensive than single Tissue Transglutaminase (Ttg) Antibody, IgA test (0097709) or Celiac Disease Reflexive Panel (0051065). Positive results must be confirmed with IgA and IgG tests for tTG and deamidated gliadin peptide (DGP).
Methodology: Semi-Quantitative Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay
Performed: Mon, Wed, Fri
Reported: 1-4 days
Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube.

Specimen Preparation: Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.3 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Plasma or other body fluids. Contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year

Reference Interval:
19 Units or less: Negative - No significant level of detectable IgA or IgG antibodies against human tissue transglutaminase or gliadin peptide.

20 Units or greater: Positive - Presence of IgA and/or IgG antibodies against human tissue transglutaminase and/or gliadin peptide; suggests possibility of certain gluten sensitive enteropathies such as celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis.
Note: This test is a combined antibody screen for tissue transglutaminase and deamidated gliadin-derived peptide antibodies, IgA and IgG.
