Specimen Required: Collect:  One 4 mL serum separator tube.

Transport:  1 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  0.15 mL serum at 2-8°C.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Plasma, other body fluids. Hemolyzed, icteric, heat-inactivated, lipemic, or contaminated specimens.

Stability:  After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year
Reference Interval:
19 Units or less: Negative - No significant level of detectable IgA or IgG antibodies against human tissue transglutaminase or gliadin peptide.

20 Units or greater: Positive - Presence of IgA and/or IgG antibodies against human tissue transglutaminase and/or gliadin peptide; suggests possibility of certain gluten sensitive enteropathies such as celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis.
Note: This test is a combined antibody screen for tissue transglutaminase and deamidated gliadin-derived peptide antibodies, IgA and/or IgG.
