Specimen Required: Collect:  One 4 mL serum separator tube.

Transport:  1 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  0.15 mL serum at 2-8°C.

Remarks:  Remove serum from cells ASAP

Unacceptable Conditions:  Contaminated or heat-inactivated specimens.

Stability:  After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year
Reference Interval:
20.0 Units or less: Negative - No significant level of detectable IgG antibodies against gp210.
20.1-24.9 Units: Equivocal
25.0 Units or greater: Positive - Presence of IgG antibodies against gp210, suggestive of primary biliary cirrhosis.
Interpretive Data: Individuals with high levels of gp210 antibodies may be at an increased risk of progression to end-stage hepatic failure.
