Interpretive Data: A positive result, with consistent clinical symptoms and history, suggests an acute or recent B. pertussis infection.  A positive result may also result from vaccine antibodies.  This assay cannot differentiate between vaccine antibodies and antibodies from an infection; however, a positive result of greater than 1.8 IV suggests an acute infection if vaccination occurred at least 12 months prior to testing.
