| Specimen Required: |
Collect: One 4 mL serum separator tube.
Transport: 1 mL serum at 2-8°C. Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.
Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.
Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.1 mL serum at 2-8°C.
Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.
Remarks: Plasma is also acceptable. Separate serum from cells ASAP. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Unacceptable Conditions: Severely hemolytic, lipemic, or cadaveric specimens.
Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 7 days; Frozen: 1 year
