Specimen Required: Collect:  One 4 mL serum separator tube.  Specify age of patient on test request form.

Transport:  2 mL serum at 2-8°C.  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  1 mL of serum at 2-8°C.

Remarks:  Separate from serum ASAP.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Plasma. Hemolyzed, grossly lipemic, or contaminated specimens.

Stability:  After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 8 days; Frozen: 1 year (if frozen within 24 hours)

If IgA is ³ 7 mg/dL, then tTG IgA will be added. If tTG IgA is positive, then EMA IFA titer will be added. If tTG IgA is negative and patient is < 3 years of age, then Gliadin Peptide IgG & IgA will be added.
