Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 4 mL SST.

Transport: 2 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.2 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.5 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.2 mL)

Remarks: Separate serum from cells ASAP.

Unacceptable Conditions: CSF. Hemolyzed, lipemic, heat-inactivated, or contaminated specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year

0.91 - 1.09 LI:  Equivocal - Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.
1.10 LI or greater: Positive - C6 peptide antibody to B. burgdorferi detected.
0050255Borrelia burgdorferi Antibody, IgG by Western Blot Negative

IgG Positive: Any five of the following 10 bands: 18, 23, 28, 30, 39, 41, 45, 58, 66, or 93 kDa.
IgG Negative: Any pattern that does not meet the IgG-positive criteria.

Note:
If C6 Peptide by ELISA is 0.91 LI, then IgG Western blot will be added.
