Specimen Required: Patient Prep:  Fasting specimen preferred.

Collect:  One 4 mL plasma separator tube or serum separator tube. Also acceptable: green (sodium or lithium heparin), lavender (EDTA), or pink (K2EDTA). 

Storage/Transport Temperature:  1 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Remarks:  Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature.  Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP.  Fasting specimen preferred.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing):  After separation from cells: Ambient: 3 months; Refrigerated: 3 months; Frozen: 3 months
