Specimen Required: Collect: CSF, tissue biopsy (freeze tissue immediately), one 7 mL plain red or serum separator tube, or one 5 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA). Spin blood specimens and remove serum or plasma before transporting. Specimen source is required.

Storage/Transport Temperature: 1 mL CSF, serum, or plasma in a sterile container, frozen. Fresh tissue, snap frozen, on dry ice. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.


Remarks: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue can be submitted, but it is not an optimal specimen. Transport at 20-25°C.

Unacceptable Conditions: Nonsterile or leaking containers. Heparinized, frozen, hemolyzed, or clotted whole blood. Tissues in formalin or other preservatives. Specimens in Microtest M4.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: 8 hours (excludes tissue); Refrigerated: 3 days (excludes tissue); Frozen: 1 year
Interpretive Data: This test is performed pursuant to an agreement with Roche Molecular Systems, Inc.
