Reference Interval:

Test Number Components Reference Interval
dsDNA (Double Stranded DNA) Antibody, IgG None detected.
dsDNA Antibody, IgG by IFA Less than 1:10

Interpretive Data: dsDNA antibodies are screened using an ELISA assay. If dsDNA antibodies are Detected, then dsDNA Antibody IgG by IFA (using Crithidia luciliae) will be performed.
Note: dsDNA antibodies (1:10 or greater) are found in 50-60% of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), 20-30% in Sjögren syndrome, 20-25% in mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), and less than 5% in progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS). High titers of antibody to native (double stranded) DNA are specific for SLE.
CPT Code(s): 86225 dsDNA ELISA; if reflexed, add 86225 dsDNA IFA
