Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 7 mL plain red.  Allow to clot for one hour at room temperature.

Transport: 1 mL serum, frozen. (Min: 0.5 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.15 mL serum, frozen.

Remarks: CRITICAL FROZEN.  Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.  Allow specimen to clot for one hour at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP and freeze. Plasma is not recommended. Do not use separator tubes or gels.

Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens left to clot at 2-8°C. Specimens exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Separator tubes. Nonfrozen specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 2 weeks

Reference Interval:
Low: 59 CAE Units  or less
Normal: 60-144 CAE Units
High: 145 CAE Units or greater
