Specimen Required: Collect:  One 4 mL plain red or 3 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA).

Storage/Transport Temperature:  1 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C.  (Min: 0.2 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Remarks:  Remove from cells ASAP.  Only fasting (12 hours) specimens should be used.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Specimens from patients receiving heparin.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing):  Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 6 months
