Specimen Required: Collect:  Tumor tissue

Transport:  Paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed tissue block at 20-25°C.  Protect paraffin block from excessive heat.  Ship in cooled container during summer months.  Include surgical pathology report. Also acceptable: 6 tissue sections (from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue block) on 6 "positively charged" or "plus" slides.

Unacceptable Conditions:  No tumor in tissue.  Frozen samples and samples fixed/processed in alternative fixatives (alcohol, Prefer®).

Stability:  Ambient: Indefinitely; Refrigerated: Acceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable

Interpretive Data: This assay indicates if translocation has occurred, but not the specific translocation partner. Approximately 95% of all translocations involve the translocation partner on chromosome 16. The remaining 3-6% have chromosome 22 as the translocation partner.
