Specimen Required: Collect: Tumor tissue.

Storage/Transport Temperature: Paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed tissue block enriched with tumor at 20-25°C. Include surgical pathology report. Protect paraffin block from excessive heat; ship in a cooled container during summer months.

Unacceptable Conditions: Paraffin block with no tumor tissue remaining. Specimens fixed in formalin substitute.

Interpretive Data: Assay is performed on paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed tissue. Antibody is polyclonal and the detection system is labeled streptavidin biotin (LSAB). Staining of greater than 5% indicates a positive result and has been associated in some studies with an improved prognosis.

Results of this test should be interpreted with caution in the context of other data.
