Specimen Required: Collect:  Peripheral Blood: One 5 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA), or one 7 mL green (sodium or lithium heparin); Bone Marrow: 1 mL heparinized aspirate.

Storage/Transport Temperature:  Peripheral Blood: One 5 mL whole blood (EDTA) or one 7 mL whole blood (green, heparin) and six unfixed smears; Bone Marrow: 1 mL heparinized aspirate and six unfixed smears.  Transport at 20-25°C.
Minimum volume required
: Peripheral Blood: 1 mL whole blood (EDTA or green heparin) and six well-prepared unfixed smears.  Bone Marrow: 0.5 to 1 mL heparinized aspirate and six well-prepared unfixed smears.  Transport at 20-25 Degrees C.


Remarks:  Protect from light. Specimens must be received within 24 hours of collection; testing must be performed within 48 hours of collection.
