Specimen Required:  
Collect: Two 5 mL lt. blue (sodium citrate). (Min: Two 3 mL) Refer to the Hemostasis/Thrombosis Specimen section in the front of this User's Guide for special collection instructions.

Transport: 4 mL platelet-poor plasma, frozen. (Min: 2 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 2 mL platelet-poor plasma, frozen.

Remarks: CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Unacceptable Conditions: Serum.  Nonfrozen or hemolyzed specimens.

Stability: Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 4 hours; Frozen: 2 weeks

Interpretive Data:
A ratio of less than 0.65 detects a carrier state with 97% accuracy. A ratio of greater than 0.65 is normal, with 88% accuracy. Patient risks should be calculated by a clinical geneticist, using laboratory results and family history.
