Specimen Required: Collect:  72-hour stool collection; 48- and 24-hour stool collections are also acceptable. Refrigerate during collection.

Transport:  20 mL (20 g) homogenized aliquot from entire stool collection, frozen.  See instructions in the front section of this User's Guide. (See ARUP supply # 40910)

Remarks:  Include time of collection, total weight of collection, and amount of any D.I. water added to make homogenate.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Specimens containing media or preservative.  Containers larger than 500 mL (500 g) will be rejected and discarded.

Stability:  Ambient: 1 hour; Refrigerated: 96 hours; Frozen: 2 weeks
