Specimen Required: Collect:  First-morning urine collected in a plastic container.

Transport:  1 mL aliquot from well-mixed first-morning urine at 2-8°C. Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Remarks:  Do not freeze.  First-morning urine is the preferred specimen as it usually contains the highest concentration of beta-hCG; however, any specimen is suitable for testing.

Stability:  Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen: Unacceptable
