Specimen Required:  
Collect: One green (sodium or lithium heparin) pediatric tube. Also acceptable: SST.

Transport: 0.8 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.2 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Amber Transport Tube.

Remarks: Protect from light during collection, storage, and shipment.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week;  Frozen: 6 months (if protected from light).

Reference Interval:
Critical High
Newborn up to 24 hours: 10.0 mg/dL
24 hours and older: 15.0 mg/dL
