Specimen Required:  
Collect: Synovial or bile fluid in liquid EDTA or sodium heparin.

Transport: 1 mL synovial or bile fluid at 2-8°C.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.5 mL synovial or bile fluid at 2-8°C.

Remarks: Indicate source on the test request form.

Unacceptable Conditions: Samples will be rejected if needle is sent with sample. Frozen samples. Any fluid other than synovial or bile will be rejected. Synovial or bile fluids should not be collected in powdered EDTA or powdered lithium heparin.

Stability: Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 12 hours; Frozen: Unacceptable
