Cytopathology

The ARUP Cytopathology Laboratory is a full-service laboratory providing screening and diagnostic testing on gynecological, non-gynecological, and fine-needle aspiration specimens. Consultation for difficult gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and fine-needle aspiration biopsy specimens is available from ARUP’s board-certified cytopathologists. By offering molecular testing, such as UroVysion™ FISH testing for urine and pancreatobiliary specimens and BRAF mutation testing for FNA direct smears, the Cytopathology Laboratory can assist clients in broadening their scope of services. Please note that the Pap test is a screening test for cervical cancer and its
precursors with an inherent false-negative rate.
