During that time, our pathologists have diligently served the veterinary community and have positively impacted the lives of pets and pet owners throughout the country. Having reviewed and diagnosed close to 1,000,000 cases during this time, our pathologists have the experience that veterinarians trust and that pet owners should demand.


Animal Reference Pathology specializes in diagnostic veterinary histopathology and cytopathology. However, we also provide contract research histopathology, some specialty testing, and other projects from industry and academia.

Test Menu

Our test menu primarily supports veterinary diagnostic and research histopathology and cytology, but also includes:

  • Alpha Fetoprotein

  • Calculi Analysis (Quantitative)
  • Catecholamines
  • Copper Analysis (Tissue)

Turnaround Time and Transportation

ARUP employs national courier services for rapid sample delivery to our lab. We also offer:

  • Exceptional turnaround time for routine specimens
  • Express delivery of specimens to our lab
  • Specimen bottles and transport materials
  • Test results reported via fax, phone, regular mail, or email

Professional Consultation

Professional staff consists of experienced and highly trained, ACVP board certified veterinary pathologists. Each of our pathologists has varied interests, including hematology, dermatopathology, neoplasia, hepatic and enteric pathology, reptile and amphibian medicine, food animal diseases, and viral, bacterial, and fungal diseases, among many other diverse fields. Clients can contact any of these pathologists directly for consultation. Additionally, our veterinary pathologists are pioneers in the pathology and epidemiology of feline injection site sarcomas and well-differentiated oral melanomas and have authored or co-authored articles on these and other subjects of interest to the profession.
