GASTROINTESTINAL PATHOLOGY

The focus of gastrointestinal pathology is the molecular diagnostics of gastrointestinal tumors and inherited colorectal cancer, including KRAS and BRAF mutational testing in colorectal cancer for determination of therapeutic response to EGFR inhibitors. For the workup of Lynch syndrome (hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer or HNPCC), tests include microsatellite instability testing (by PCR and/or IHC), BRAF mutational testing, and detection of MLH1 methylation. Finally, germline analysis of MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, and PMS2 is provided.
