NEW VERSION PROVIDES IMPROVED DIAGNOSTIC
SUPPORT TOOL FOR CLINICIANS
SALT LAKE CITY, September 15, 2008—ARUP Laboratories, a national medical reference laboratory and a leader in innovative laboratory research and development, announced the release of ARUP Consult® v.3.0—The Physician’s Guide to Laboratory Test Selection and Interpretation. The new release builds upon ARUP Consult’s success as an award-winning diagnostic tool. The new release offers a number of new features and enhancements including expanded diagnostic information, disease-specific update notification, and improved navigation.
"With this release, we have focused our development on easing the burden placed on physicians to stay current on ever-changing laboratory information,” said ARUP's medical director of Informatics, Brian Jackson, MD, MS, who heads the ARUP Consult project. “This physician’s guide concentrates information on nearly 2,000 tests into a concise test selection and interpretation tool that allows users to make informed diagnostic decisions and improve patient care.”
ARUP Consult 3.0 enhancements include:
- Diagnosis tab: a newly formatted diagnosis section, allowing clinicians to access all diagnostic information in a single location, enabling clinicians to move quickly through the topic without additional clicks or scrolling
- Collapsible tables: collapsible tables that enable health care professionals to expand or collapse test tables to reduce scrolling
- Email notification: physicians can subscribe to automatic email notifications to alert them when new information about one or more disease-related topics and/or algorithms is available
- Condensed guidelines reference section: clinicians can access all relevant types of guidelines, including journals, National Guidelines Center, and scientific organizations, from a single box.
“ARUP Consult’s goal is to assist the clinician with test selection and interpretation,” explained Jackson, “Knowing the right test to order for a specific disease can improve patient care and decrease unnecessary testing and costs.”
