Dr. Ashwood discusses “home-grown” Lab Tests with Clinical Laboratory news

In an interview with Clinical Laboratory News, Dr. Edward Ashwood states that he supports a middle path for lab-developed tests. According to Dr. Ashwood, lab-test usage is driven by market demands. Ashwood also states that there's less motivation to improve a given test if only one company is running it, since competition improves testing methods.

  • When a company licenses a test to other labs, it encourages others to find a way to do better, and in turn it pushes the company to keep improving their method to stay competitive, Ashwood concluded. See more
